Chelsea Challenge Background

The Chelsea Challenge began in 1990 and has been running almost every year since – this year will mark the 20th anniversary of the event. The Challenge was conceived by Robert Orange, CIBC Wood Gundy, and Greg Christie, Ski and Cycle Works. In later years Steve Lynott, Century 21 MacIntrye came to lead and organize the event as it grew.

The Challenge has become a Thanksgiving tradition for many families and more importantly it serves a really great cause. To date this fun and important community event has raised over $55,000 dollars for the shelter MAISON LIBERE-ELLES,  a shelter for survivors of family violence.

We hope you can make it this year, we look forward to seeing all old friends and making new friends. Please invite all your friends and families, we want to introduce a new generation of kids to the event this year so we can continue for the next 20 years.

Is there a way to register for the 2011 challenge ?

  2. Benoit Brault says:

    Bonjour,

I don’t know if you have planned a new route since the highway 105 is closed but an alternative could be as follow:
    - Same start including the turn on Bois-Chatel
    - Then Old Chelsea to Kingsmere
    - Left on Kngsmere to Gatineau parkway
    - Take the Gatineau parkway to Meech Lake road.
    - Right on Meech lake and back to the school.

Just an idea. That should be close to 10K.

    Benoit

    • we will measure that route and see, but we think you are right about the distance
we may need police and marshals because we are using all of main roads
we will let you know on website and facebook, once decided
      thanks

You might want to check your registration links, the individual one says registration is closed. The family one has a bunch of old links (confirmation) and takes you to last years conformation list. I managed to register by going directly to eventsonline and searched for chelsea challenge and it worked just fine.

    Cheers

you folks are probably way ahead on this, but another possible route could be:
    start at the school
    out-and-back on boischatel
east on old chelsea rd to 105
north on 105 to the barricade
south on 105 to ch mill
    out-and-back on ch Mill
south on 105 to old chelsea rd
west on old chelsea rd to boischatel
    out-and-back on boischatel
    finish at school

i think it is about 10km, and easy to adjust the turnarounds to make it exact.

whatever route you choose, it’ll be a fun race. thanks for organizing it.

    run well, run happy

  5. Can I still run this even if the one line registration is closed?? Where does it start?

  6. Mark says:

Are there any plans to post some of the race photos taken this year. I saw lots of photographers but so far no photos (except for the xcottawa ones).

    Cheers
